I love working with a range of materials; mosaic, clay, paint, steel and
textiles - the cross fertilisation of different techniques, ways of handling
materials and reference points keeps my ideas fresh. Textiles, appliqué and
block print inform my mosaic work – I use fabric, wallpapers and wooden print
blocks to print into clay. The imagery, story telling and joyous use of colour
in Mexican, Indian and African textiles are a source of inspiration to me and
have universal appeal.
I really enjoy working with people. It’s a pleasure to
share my enjoyment of making and amazing to witness the wealth of creativity
that can spring from a single starting point – for most people, it’s very
empowering to make something you can be proud of.
I have been lucky to work with some fantastic artists through past projects. Most recently I have worked in collaboration with Esther Adesigbin and Sarah Goodall. I worked in partnership with Honor Pinner in 2005 and 2006 on a number of different projects as shinepublicart.co.uk.
Each artist brings their own specialism and experience to a work situation. Working as a 'team' offers a fantistic resource to the projects and is a great way to expand and develop for the artists involved.
I work with whole groups / classes were appropriate, but often choose to work with small groups to ensure quality teaching and outcomes to be especially proud of!
I will visit you to discuss your project.
I do not charge for the initial consultation.
After an initial meeting we can draw up a project brief and estimated costing.
I always work with a contract to protect the interests of all parties.
